Frequently Asked Questions
What is Vinyasa Yoga?
Vinyasa is a physically vigorous style of yoga that flows from pose to pose led by the breath. Vinyasa is defined as “being led by the breath in a special way” or “breath synchronized movement”. This practice flows from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale, providing a sense of meditation in motion on the mat. Vinyasa yoga practice uses sun salutations to warm the body and wake up the spirit. Each practice is unique as it blends the standing poses, balancing poses, back and forward bends in unique and creative sequences.
What is Power Vinyasa Yoga?
This practice uses the principles of Vinyasa yoga adding an element of increased intensity using stronger variations, options for arm balances and more advanced inversions and a slightly increased pace of the sequences. This practice builds heat, increases strength, improves flexibility and deepens concentration. A strong practice that can be enjoyed by students of all levels…don’t let the name scare you…join us and take your practice to the appropriate level for you.
I’m not flexible, can I do yoga?
Yes! Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, size, shape or gender. All that we ask is that you come with an open mind, open heart, and plenty of patience. Flexibility is not the sole focus or benefit of yoga. Strength, stamina, concentration, improved circulation, and peace of mind are all benefits of practicing yoga.
Do I need to pre-register online for every class?
We require our students to pre-register online or in the studio for all of our workshops and series. This ensures that we have space for every interested student and that they get necessary information prior to the series or workshop. For our regularly scheduled classes, it is highly recommended to pre-register online to secure a spot but not required. If you do sign up online, please remember that signing in at the desk before your class officially checks you in.
What should I bring to my first class?
Please come ready to practice with a mat, hand towel, and water bottle. We offer mat rentals for $3 or you may purchase one in our studio.
How early do I need to get to class?
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your class begins so that you have enough time to remove outer clothing and set up your mat. If you wish to pay for your class and/or purchase any items, please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
Is the studio heated? How hot does it get?
Our studio is heated to a comfortable temperature. This helps increase range of motion and muscular flexibility. Gentle Yoga classes are typically 72-75 degrees, Vinyasa clases range from 75-78 degrees, Power Vinyasa classes range from 80-85 degrees, and Hot Hatha classes range from 100-103 degrees.
I’ve done the intro series, what class is appropriate for me now?
Many of our students repeat the intro series after they complete it the first time. If you would like more practice and review of the basic postures then another round of intro would be great. The all-levels Power Hour and Power Vinyasa classes are the next step after the intro series. Vinyasa Yoga and Yoga for Athletes are two types of classes that incorporate the postures taught in the intro series but are not as fast paced as our Power Vinyasa classes.
Can I share a pass with someone?
We allow immediate family members to share the 5 and 10 class passes.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you have preregistered online for one of our regular classes but do not come you will not be charged. It is highly appreciated if you call in ahead of time to cancel but it is not necessary. For our WORKSHOPS and SPECIAL CLASSES, you must cancel 72 hours before the start time in order to be reimbursed. PRIVATES must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to receive full reimbursement. If a PRIVATE is cancelled in less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, you will be reimbursed 50% of the original charge.
Do you have a lost and found?
Yes, all lost and found items are kept in a basket next to the cubbies in the back. If you know you have left something, please call or email with a detailed description and your name and we will hold it at the desk for you. We suggest putting your last name on your mat and have permanent markers available upon request. All items that have been in the lost and found for 3 weeks or more will be washed and donated.
Do you have a shower and changing areas?
Yes, we have men's and women's locker rooms. Towels are available to rent for $1.
